News archives No More!

Well, that’s not entirely true – I have the domain name pointing here now.

Today I went through the logs and noted all the files that were still being called (mostly f-150 movies) and I will be adding redirects for any of those requests to their new location here. I will also be uploading a bunch of old photos from around 1997 or 1998 that I found – I look like a completely different person!

So while may no longer exist in the form it did previously, it will always be around in some form or another. We need to let things go from time to time. The best part – canceling that hosting plan saves me about 17 bucks a month!

May Add Another Site to My Portfolio!

For the past month or so, I have been toying with the idea of creating a beer blog. I don’t really want to come across as an outright alcoholic – but I enjoy good great beers! Now that hockey season is winding down, Islesblogger will not be occupying as much time as it normally would – but I would like to keep the creative juices flowing in the interim. No, it’s not like I will stop posting during the summer – there just won’t be things I can post daily, or just about daily as I can during the season.

The idea for a beer blog (I already purchased a really great domain name) came during one of my recent trips to a craft beer festival. These craft beer festivals are much akin to wine tastings, you walk around a big convention center with a small beer stein and go booth to booth tasting different breweries beers. It makes for a pretty interesting day and a great chance to try out some of the lesser known breweries out there. It’s not really a secret that I enjoy writing, so this is yet another chance to incorporate some of my favorite activities and give tasting beer either at a restaurant, microbrewery or a beer festival a more work-like feel to it.

I have another project for my friend Jeremy that I need to start first – it’s something that needs to be done ASAP, so I will start the beer site in the next few weeks. I am excited about it – it should be a fun experience and a great website.

Site Downtime

My hosting company has yet to correct my email address on my account (going on 3 years and I try to change it each year) but my domain expired again.

Sorry if you visited the site during the 24 hours it was down :(

Classic Rock

Now don't get me wrong, I have always had a special place in my heart for Rock-N-Roll but as someone from Generation X it was typically Punk, Ska, "Alternative" or Metal.

Maybe it's me getting older but I am really starting to dig Classic Rock! I still get into the other genres as much as I used to, but now I have more stuff to jam to while stuck in traffic.

Sirius radio is really awesome for this. I have had it for over a year and just recently started listening to other stations.

Right now im listening to George Thorogood's – One bourbon one scotch and one beer.

I wonder what will be considered "Classic" when I get to my mid-50's or 60's.

I am 24 and "Classic" is starting to include Metallica….

Oh well, Jam On!

Well, Thanksgiving has come and gone yet still, we suffer the after affects of Tripophan. Once we wake up from this Turkey Induced Coma, it is December 24th and have 4 hours to shop until Christmas Day. Well, maybe not; but this is my excuse for waiting until the last minute for shopping!

No but seriously, It is Christmas time. The houses lining the streets are all glowing with lights, every radio station has the holiday music on already. Some of your crazy neighbors have their tree all set up, some 22 days prior to the big day (well mine does).

I have yet to really start shopping, I dont know what I want when people ask and I have NO idea what to get anyone.

Oh Well!

Frozen Foods

Something occured to me today….and you guess it, it's going to make you laugh!

How many of us stop off at a 7-11, a WAWA or a Quick Check store during the day? I know I stop for a drink and a quick bite to eat while I am on the road, all the time.

Today, as I heated up my 1/2 lb Hamburger and Cheese Hotpocket, I realized….frozen foods are nothing more then LEFTOVERS! Yea, that's right, I said it!

Now, this can pertain to all frozen, heat and eat items. They are all cooked at some point, they need to be. All we are doing is re-heating something, because were lazy and want it yesterday. But the funny thing is, that in reality it is just old food that were heating up and devouring before we realize how disgusting it is.

Hours later, it reminds of the reason we shouldn't have eaten 2 week old food to begin with. But god only knows why we continue to frequent the frozen lunch section of these places! Excuse me while I nuke my Beef and Cheese big bomb :)

It always amazes me

It always amazes me that when people find a locked door….they will try to open it like 5 or 6 times, like it will magically be unlocked by the 6th try.

That reminds me of a scene I saw in NYC over the summer. We were walking past a H&M Department store, and there was a problem inside the store. This one entrance was closed and had a HUGE handwritten sign that said please visit our other store and gave the address. Well, somehow there were still customers milling about inside, and the lights were on. What do all these pavlov's dogs do? Yank on the handle…and start to get all annoyed like "OH, I know you didn't".

We must have watched in utter amusement for like 25 minutes, how ignorant people can be. It was one of those times that I wished I had a camcorder on me.

I really don't like to judge people….I just think that when people botch situations so blatantly obvious, its hysterical.

I am a big fan of comdedy, and that…is true real-world comedy at its best.
